The Monkee's?


I guess some or most people who'd be reading this blog would know about the Monkee's, the "rock n roll" band from the 1960's.

Today at work, I was meeting with a new director and another woman. In the middle of our conversation, he yelled out, "You know who you look like, one of the Monkee's! Is this something you've ever heard before?" No, this is not something I've ever heard before. He quickly googled and found my Monkee twin -not the famous hearthrob Davey Jones, the triangle playing background singer. Not great, but I'll let you be the judge.

Funny sidebar, when I came home and told Katherine the story, she wondered why I wasn't more offended by the story. When I forwarded her the picture of my Monkee twin, she laughed, loudly. She thought I was referring to a monkey more like this:

Was this director older? Maybe he was a fan, back in the day. And perhaps, it was a compliment... because I heard that they were fairly popular...back in the day.

Better that guy than saying you look like Reggie Miller (of the Pacers). The funny thing is not just that I'm white and Reggie is black, but it was a black guy at a BBQ place that told me that. It must be true.
